Concrete Leveling & Lifting in Cache Valley

Why uneven concrete is a problem

Why concrete settles in Cache Valley
Concrete sinks when the soil under it loses support. In Cache Valley the biggest culprit is our freeze-thaw winters: frost heaves the slab up, and when it melts the slab rarely settles back to its original level, leaving trip spots and low corners.
A few other causes show up around here too. Poor base compaction lets a slab settle soon after it is poured. Damaged water or sewer lines and downspouts that dump next to a slab erode the base from underneath. Heavy traffic and machine vibration pack the soil down over time. And a large pour can curl at the edges as it cures, leaving a slab that rocks.

Instead of tearing the slab out, we lift it back to level by filling the void underneath with expanding polyurethane foam. This gets to the root of the problem, the unstable soil. The foam strengthens the ground, so the slab is less likely to sink again.
Deep Foamjection is the process of installing foam deep into the ground to increase the load-bearing capacity of the soil. The foam follows the path of least resistance and, like the roots of a tree, expands out to fill fissures and voids, stabilizing the soil and protecting it from erosion and shifting. How we lift a slab

Assess and mark
We measure the settlement, find the low points, and mark small port locations across the slab.

Drill small ports
We drill 5/8 inch holes through the concrete and set a tapered delivery port in each, far cleaner than the holes mudjacking leaves.

Inject the foam
Dual-component polyurethane foam is injected through the ports and under the slab, compacting loose soil as it goes.

Lift and drive on it
The foam fully expands in 10 to 15 seconds, so we raise the slab in controlled increments back to level. The surface is ready to use the same day.

Why is lifting better than pouring a new slab?
Lifting is cheaper, quicker, and cleaner than a new slab, and the surface is ready to use right away. A new pour also rarely matches the color of the concrete next to it.
Does concrete lifting last?
Yes. Deep Foamjection is a long-term fix for settled concrete. The polyurethane foam does not wash out or break down the way older mudjacking slurry can, so the slab stays level.
How long does a concrete lifting job take?

What causes concrete to sink or become uneven?

Can I drive on my driveway the same day it is lifted?
Yes. The foam cures within minutes, so you can walk and drive on a lifted driveway as soon as we finish, the same day.
